1. When can I put out my garbage cans for pick up?

Domestic garbage and landscape waste shall not be placed, or permitted to remain upon any parkway within the Village for purposes of being picked up by a regularly scheduled scavenger service sooner than one day before their regularly scheduled day for pickup, and any disposal device or container shall be removed from the parkway no later than one day after the scheduled pickup.

2. How do I get graffiti removed from my property?

The graffiti removal program is a no-cost service to residents and businesses. Village staff will remove the graffiti within three working days. To have graffiti removed:

• Call 9-1-1. A police officer will come to the site to photograph and catalogue the incident.
• Sign a Graffiti Removal Waiver at the Police Department or Community Development Department. This form authorizes the Village to come into private property and remove the graffiti. The waiver is active for one year, and must be signed by the owner or agent.

3. Is open burning allowed in Villa Park?

Open Burning is prohibited, except with the express written permission of the code official or his designate. Exceptions include; recreation fires that are allowed for cooking food on grills, barbecues, kettles, smokers, and similar appliances Fire pits, fire rings, or other fires on the ground are prohibited.

The burning of seasoned firewood in an "outdoor fireplace" is allowed. The wood used shall be cut into logs, and not freshly cut, or "green." The appliance used shall have a secure, suitable cover, and suitable screening in place on its sides. The code official or his designate may prohibit the use of an outdoor fireplace if the products of combustion create, or add to, a hazardous or objectionable situation.
