Real estate taxes are already to high in York Township because of the schools. Just a couple years ago an increase was snuck through on a local election for athletic facilities. Neighbors have already moved because of age and our taxes. Real estate taxes place an undo burden on retirees. Seek more money from the federal government and make better use of funds like fixing streets before new sidewalks are added, or new curbs for bike riders at intersections. Illinois only gives seniors a minor break in real estate taxes.

There is a proposal to raise funds for an expansion and changes to the Villa Park library where they want to borrow $10.6 million. For a $200,00 home this will raise your taxes by $90. Please vote against this tax in April. Our real estate taxes are too high as it is.

We are still paying off the village tax for roads, we do not need any more taxes. Vote down this tax proposal. Make sure you show up this April to vote.

District 45 has a new $30 million tax proposal. " PROPOSITION TO ISSUE $30,000,000 SCHOOL BUILDING BONDS" This will have an annual impact of $170 on the average home owner. We have had enough tax requests over the past few years. It should be noted that Illinois has the second highest property tax rate in the country, only surpassed by New Jersey. They need to itemize how our current taxes are being spent before asking for more. Our burden will only get worse as more people leave the state.

Villa Parks budget needs to be more accessible and include more information. Taxes were raised so we need to take a better look on how our money is being spent. At one time the pensions were a separate item in the budget but now it is collapsed into the corporate budget. This item needs to be reported on its own with a further breakdown by departments. Though pensions are something to keep, we need watch them closely as this is how our state has gone bankrupt. Further details should be given on how early pensions may be taken and is their a penalty for early retirement. The range of annual pensions should also be given, highlighting the pension amounts for retired personnel.
Most people would be shocked if they saw the range of pensions given in Illinois A substantial number are receiving pensions over 200,000 a year with the highest around 500,000. We must avoid letting pensions get out of hand as hey have for the state.
