Grow in Villa Park: New Village of Villa Park website goes live

You may have noticed that our website, www.invillapark.com, has a new look! After months of planning, designing and working together to create this new site, it went live on March 11. Our goal was to simplify the user experience, improve the mobile version and to modernize the design overall.

The “Services Online” section will bring you right where you need to go with the click of a button and can be accessed right from the homepage. Whether you are looking for online payment information, employment opportunities or our location and hours, it can all be found simply and conveniently.

Scroll down further on the homepage and you will find our Village News, calendars and the Community Spotlight, which are all meant to keep you informed with what is happening in the Village of Villa Park.

We hope you enjoy the new and improved site.

Public Works Director, Vydas Juskelis, retires after 30 years

The Village of Villa Park would like to thank Vydas Juskelis for 30 years of incredible service to our community as our Public Works Director. He has overseen countless projects over the years that have helped improve our roadways, underground utilities and other Village infrastructure.

Most recently, Juskelis laid the foundation for the Jackson Pond Improvement project, the first phases of which are currently in progress, and oversaw the planning and design of the St. Charles Road Bridge Improvement Project, expected to start construction this year.

He served as President of the American Public Works Association (APWA) Chicago Metro Chapter in 2011, and was involved in numerous other committees and professional organizations throughout his career.

We wish Mr. Juskelis the very best in his retirement.

"Remember, without infrastructure there is no community." - Vydas Juskelis

ComEd

ComEd offers safety tips on flooded basements

With spring comes storms, and with storms comes the risk of basement flooding. ComEd offers the following safety tips for customers with flooded basements:

  • Customers should call ComEd at 1-800-EDISON-1 to disconnect power before entering a flooded basement.
  • Never wade into a flooded basement unless all electricity has been disconnected (such as power that supplies sump pumps, freezers, etc.)
  • Never attempt to turn off power at the breaker box if you must stand in water to do so.
  • Be aware of any electrical equipment that could be energized and in contact with water.
More storm safety information can be found on ComEd's website.

Pup of the Month March

VP Pup of the Month - March

Our March Pup of the Month was really feeling the luck of the Irish this year! Maddie, an 8-year-old Border Collie mix, celebrated St. Patrick's day with her family as they enjoyed corned beef and cabbage (and she may have sneaked a bite). Congratulations to Maddie and owner, Nikki Lenner.

Your pup can be featured too! Each month we post our two-day photo contest on our Facebook page and the winning photo gets featured in our Village Matters newsletter, this E-newsletter and our social media pages!
