On Thursday, August 10th, the Villa Park Fire Department received a grant of $11,894 worth of life-saving equipment from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. The grant funded four video laryngoscopes that provide an efficient line of sight during intubation, improving chances of survival for patients suffering from respiratory and cardiac trauma.
“We would like to sincerely thank Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation for choosing us as a recipient for a grant which will allow us to outfit all four of Villa Park Fire Department’s Advanced Life Support rigs with the most up to date intubation equipment,” said Villa Park Fire Department Firefighter Kelli Krupa. "We strive to provide the community we serve with the best treatment possible, and this advanced technology will aid our paramedics in doing so. Thanks to the Foundation, we are able to provide the best care and the greatest impact to our patients.”

Share Your Ideas for Walking and Biking in Villa Park

The plan will focus on improving connections to the Illinois Prairie Path, Great Western Trail, Salt Creek Trail and other local destinations, fill in gaps in the sidewalk network and make intersections safer for people traveling on foot or by bike.
Now through October, we’re soliciting ideas from the community that will help inform and plan recommendations and priorities. There are several ways to participate:
Paper Survey: Look for a copy in your water bill or find it at Village Hall, Park District buildings, Sunday Night Car Shows, Movies in the Park, Brewfest, local stores and the Metra Station.
Community Workshop: Save the date for Thursday, October 12th, 6:00 p.m. at Iowa Community Center (338 N Iowa Ave) to learn more about the plan and brainstorm ideas with your neighbors.

Village Introduces New Rain Barrel Program
Take advantage of seasonal rainfall with the installation and use of a rain barrel. Rain barrels are an efficient and low-cost way of capturing rainwater for later use. The conserved water can be used to water plants, wash cars and even to bathe pets.
At the June 12th Board Meeting, Village Officials approved the adoption of a new grant-based rain barrel program where residents can purchase a rain barrel from a store of their choosing, and the Village will partially reimburse the cost.
Previously, the Village’s Public Works Department hosted rain barrels available for purchase, but now residents have the option to choose their own that fits their style and price-range. To start this process, fill out an application in person at the Public Works Facility or online here. For more information, contact Public Works at (630) 834-8505.
