Village Honored as Tree City USA for 32nd Year

The National Arbor Day Foundation has named the Village of Villa Park a Tree City USA community. It is the 32nd consecutive year Villa Park has received this National recognition.

The National Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service sponsors the Tree City USA program. To become a Tree City USA, a community must meet four standards: a tree board or department, a tree care ordinance, a comprehensive community forestry program and an Arbor Day observance.

On Friday, April 28th, a Coralburst Crabapple tree was planted by Village staff at the corner of Harvard Avenue and Park Boulevard. Thank you to ComEd for donating this tree and nine others for our community.

Electronics Recycling - Saturday, May 20, 2017

In Illinois, it is illegal for electronic devices to be disposed of in a landfill, so the Village of Villa Park partnered with Roy Strom to host electronics recycling events on the third Saturday of every month from 9:00 a.m.-noon at the Public Works Garage (20 W. Home Ave).

With spring cleaning happening, please remember that old electronics cannot go out to the curb as part of regular garbage pickup.

This is a free service for Villa Park residents only, and a photo ID is required to drop off electronics. Also, only one TV may be dropped off per visit. Read more about Villa Park’s electronic waste program here.

Prevent Flooding on Your Street

Flooded Street

With the rainy season upon us, the Village would like to remind residents to be prepared for storms and flooding.

Please make sure the storm inlets on your street are clear of debris before rain hits the area. If your street floods, keep in mind that 6 inches of rain can reach the bottom of most passenger cars and cause stalling and loss of control, and one foot of water can float most vehicles.

To prevent flooding on your property, utilize complimentary sandbags from the Public Works Department. They can be picked up across the street from the Public Works Facility (11 West Home Ave) and next to Village Hall (20 S. Ardmore Ave) before large storms are expected to hit.

Visit FEMA's website for more tips and information on flood safety.
