Thank You from the Village

On behalf of the Village of Villa Park, we would like to express our gratitude to the residents for their support and approval of the 0.5% Sales Tax Increase Referendum proposal.

Thanks to the residents, we are able to use the generated funds to set the Underground Utility Improvement Plan into motion. The plan includes the installation, replacement and maintenance of sanitary sewer, storm sewer and water main systems in the Village.

An informational Q & A document can be found on our website here, and hard copies can be picked up at Village Hall.

Once again, thank you for your support and interest in improving our Village!

Yard Waste Collection Resumes Through November

Yard Waste

Yard waste collection began the first week of April and will run through November 30th. Yard waste consists of grass, shrubbery clippings, leaves and plant material. It is to be set out in 30 gallon Kraft paper bags designed for the collection of yard waste or in 35 gallon (max) refuse cans clearly marked "Yard Waste Only".

A prepaid Yellow Yard Waste Tag must be affixed to each bag or can set out. Yard waste bags or cans are not to exceed 50 lbs when full. Do not use plastic bags for yard waste (plastic cannot be tub ground, composted or tilled into soil). Yard waste is limited to what is generated at the residence being serviced. The waste must be out by 6:00 a.m. along with refuse during the yard waste collection season.

Please visit this page for further information and for a list of locations where YW tags can be purchased.

Village Introduces New Special Event Packet

The Village Board recently approved the use of a new special event application packet that combines all applications for various requests/events in order to streamline the process.

If you are holding a special event such as an organized walk, a 5K run, seasonal sale or carnival among other special events that require Village resources, you must submit an application 30 days prior to the event.

This new packet amends the daily liquor license fee to $75, amends the raffle fee to $10 and lists other applicable fees, provides improved coordination, tracking, planning and gives departments the time necessary to assure a successful event that promotes a positive reflection on the Village of Villa Park. The application can be found here.

Electronics Recycling - Saturday, April 15, 2017

In Illinois, it is illegal for electronic devices to be disposed of in a landfill, so the Village of Villa Park partnered with Roy Strom to host electronics recycling events on the third Saturday of every month from 9:00 a.m.-noon at the Public Works Garage (20 W. Home Ave).

With spring cleaning happening, please remember that old electronics cannot go out to the curb as part of regular garbage pickup.

This is a free service for Villa Park residents only, and a photo ID is required to drop off electronics. Also, only one TV may be dropped off per visit. Read more about Villa Park’s electronic waste program here.

Please Keep Storm Inlets Clear of Debris

Clogged Inlet

Spring is here, and that means rainfall. Keeping storm inlets free of debris is very important during the wet season and will help reduce flooded streets.

Clogged inlets prevent storm water from entering the sewers. This causes standing water in the streets and ice if temperatures reach freezing.

So, you can help the community by keeping storm inlets clear of debris!
