Electronics Recycling - Saturday, February 18, 2017

In Illinois, it is illegal for electronic devices to be disposed of in a landfill, so the Village of Villa Park partnered with Roy Strom to host electronics recycling events on the third Saturday of every month from 9:00 a.m.-noon at the Public Works Garage ( 20 W. Home Ave).

Now that the holidays are over and everyone has opened their new gifts, please remember that the old electronics cannot go out to the curb as part of the regular garbage pick-up.

This is a free service for Villa Park residents only, and a photo ID is required to drop off electronics. Also, only one TV may be dropped off per visit. Read more about Villa Park’s electronic waste program here.

ComEd Conducts Tree Trimming in Villa Park

ComEd Tree Trimming

ComEd will perform Village-wide tree trimming/vegetation management through February 2017. Vegetation management is a key component of ComEd’s maintenance program to ensure system electrical reliability, as vegetation contact with ComEd equipment is a leading cause of outages.

Large trees and branches can cause extended power outages when they come into contact with overhead power lines. Tree trimming will help reduce and prevent outages. Affected property owners have been notified by ComEd. View the maps detailing scheduled maintenance here

Vegetation management activities can cause concern for residents because trees near electrical wires are significantly trimmed and occasionally require removal. However, qualified line-clearance workers contracted by ComEd will be performing the tree pruning work, and Supervisors and General Foremen will be in close contact with the crews, ensuring that the work is performed properly. For more information, please call 1 (800) Edison-1 or visit ComEd's website
