Villa Park Police Issue Community Alert

On October 28, 2015 at approximately 7:40 AM, members of the Villa Park Police were alerted to a battery, which occurred on the Great Western Trail between Harvard and Westmore. The victim related while walking alone on the Great Western Trail, a male white, approximately 21 to 25 years old, thin build, approximately 5’08”, blonde hair, wearing a black hoodie approached the victim from behind, and struck the victim from behind. The victim reported no items were taken, and sustained minor injuries. A search of the area by responding officers did not locate a suspect.

The incident remains under investigation by the Villa Park Police Department detective division. Any members of the public with information regarding this incident are encouraged to contact Detective James Cihak at 630-592-6112.

The Villa Park Police Department would also like to remind members of the community to exercise caution while traveling alone and keep the following safety tips in mind:

• When out, carry only necessary property, and remain aware of your surroundings at all times.

• Avoid conspicuous use of phones and other electronic devices, including headphones, in situations where those could distract you.

• Travel in groups whenever possible.
