October 30, 2015 | West Terrace Street from Ardmore Avenue to Yale Avenue was originally scheduled to be resurfaced with minimal patching as a part of the 2015 Street Improvement Project. However, the water main was in poor condition so the Utilities Division of Public Works replaced the water main. Due to the additional patching that would be required to patch the trench over the new water main, staff requested pricing to reconstruct Terrace Street. When the cost to reconstruct the road was compared to the cost to patch and resurface the road, it was determined that for an additional $10,342.25 a new pavement could be installed. The existing curb and gutter would be replaced on a partial basis as needed. Staff has decided this is the better option and will seek board approval at the 11/09/2015 Village Board meeting. Preliminary paving and structure adjustments were completed on Cornell, Division, Illinois and Oak this week. Grinding of Home Avenue Alley was also completed this week. Final asphalt surface paving on Biermann, Second, Third and Ridge is expected to begin next week. Preliminary paving is also tentatively expected to begin on Home Avenue Alley next week. |
