Objective

To replace the lift station that services the North Avenue Townhomes.

Description

This project consists of the installation of a new lift station that services the North Avenue Townhomes.

Justification

This lift station is subject to recent and frequent failures, most notably during the April 2013 flood event.

February 5, 2016A final balancing change order was submitted by Staff for the Board to consider at the 02/08/2016 Board Meeting.
January 15, 2016The contractor has completed the installation of the generator. Staff attended a training session on the use of the lift station and stand-by generator. All construction is complete. Staff is working to process all necessary grant paperwork, a pay request, and to close out the job.
January 1, 2016Nicor has installed the gas meter and Neri has completed the connection of the generator to the gas service. All work is now complete and staff is working to close out the project.
December 11, 2015The light pole with attached camera was installed this week. All that remains is the installation of the gas service by Nicor Gas.
November 27, 2015The contractor is waiting for the camera pole to be fabricated and the gas service to be installed by Nicor Gas. The lift station is currently operational.
November 20, 2015The lift station has been put into service this week. Restoration of the pavement is also complete.
November 13, 2015Startup and testing of the new lift station systems took place this week. The lift station is expected to be put into service next week. Staff is working with Nicor Gas to facilitate the installation of a new gas service for the backup generator.

October 9, 2015The contractor poured a new concrete pad this week for the control cabinet and backup generator. The control cabinet is tentatively expected to be delivered and installed next week.
October 2, 2015Work continued this week on the pumping and electrical systems. The rear parking area at the townhomes is accessible to residents again.
September 25, 2015The new wet well and foundation were installed this week. The connection of the existing sewer to the new wet well was also completed, and the wet well has been backfilled and compacted. Trenching for the new electrical connection and other electrical work are expected to take place next week.
September 18, 2015Construction continued this week. The old lift station has been removed, and excavation for the new wet well is nearly complete. The new wet well and foundation are expected to be installed next week.
September 11, 2015Construction began this week. The bypass sewer line was installed. Excavation for the new wet well is expected to begin next week. Most contractor submittals has been approved. Fabrication of approved items has now begun. Staff continued to work with engineering consultant Robinson Engineering this week to review a few remaining contractor submittals. Staff has arranged for temporary parking at Safari Land during construction as the rear parking lot at the townhomes will be temporarily inaccessible.

The engineering consultant is currently finalizing plans and specifications in anticipation of advertising the project for bidding.
