The Protection Division's primary function is to be prepared to protect the lives and property of the residents of Villa Park from the destruction caused by fire or other accidental incidents.
This mission requires proficiency in each of the following areas:
Aerial Ladder Operations
Communications Systems and Equipment
Fire Pumps and Fire Hydraulics
Hoses, Ladders and Various Small Tools and Equipment
Maintenance of Tools, Equipment and Personal Protective Gear
Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)
Training for fire and rescue situations of all types
Firefighters practice specialized training in hazardous materials, trench, high angle, and ice rescue are also included.
At a minimum, all personnel are Firefighter Basic Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) Division of Personnel Standards and Education. Most have advanced training, certifications or degrees in firefighting and other specialty areas.
