Garbage (household waste, packaging, small carpentry refuse):
Waste Management Services collects all garbage and recycling from single family, duplex and triplex residential properties within the Village. Garbage shall be placed at the curb in 35-gallon (max) rigid cans with handles or 32-gallon (max) plastic bags, total weight of containers not to exceed 50 pounds. All domestic garbage, landscape waste, and recyclable materials shall be picked up by Waste Management on the designated day, except for New Years Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. When a normal collection day falls on a holiday, which is also a weekday, Waste Management will perform collection services on the next regular day following the holiday. One large regular household item such as a bicycle, table, chair, mattress, etc. will be collected on the normal trash day free of charge. Anything additional will require an extra pick up. (Furniture and some appliances - see white goods) All large household appliances: Examples of a large household item include dishwasher, dryer, furnace, hot water tank, stove, and washing machine. All large household appliances must be called in to Waste Management, and have a $25.00 fee per appliance. Return White Goods (refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers):

Please call Waste Management Services at (888) 656-5350 with any questions as to whether or not an item is considered a "White Good". Return Automobile Tires:
Due to EPA regulations, tires cannot be disposed of in Illinois landfills. There is a fee of $5.00 per tire. Residents may also check with a local tire store; many times they will take and dispose of it for a small disposal fee. Return Building and Lumber debris:
Residents are allowed 3 cans or bundles of construction debris from "do it yourself" projects per week. Bundles should not exceed 4 feet in length and 2 feet in diameter and weigh no more than 50 pounds. Cans should be 32-45 gallon plastic or metal with handles. Plastic trash bags may also be used. Return Carpeting:
Carpeting must be rolled and taped or tied. The carpet length should not exceed 4 feet and 2 feet in diameter, and weigh no more than 45 pounds each. Return Other items:
Call Waste Management for an estimate. Any special items requiring collection should be called into Waste Management (888) 656-5350 2 days prior to the regular scheduled trash collection. Waste Management supervisors will do a "site survey". Pickup will usually be scheduled on the same day as regular service. Any item that needs to be picked up on any day other than the normal day will require an additional charge added to the quoted price. All special pickups must be paid in full before or when the collection is made. A credit card is preferred but a check, or money order is acceptable. Brush and yardwaste are collected on the same day that household garbage and recyclables are picked up.
Residents are reminded that brush must be tied in bundles no longer than four feet and no larger than 18 inches in diameter. No limb over 4 inches in diameter will be accepted. Brush piles should weigh no more than 45 pounds. Use only biodegradable twine or string. Yardwaste stickers are not needed for disposal of brush bundles. Residents may dispose of leaves, grass clippings, weeds and shrubbery trimmings by using either 32 gallon (max) trash cans or 30 gallon Kraft paper bags and attaching a $2.20 yardwaste sticker. Disposal stickers may be purchased at grocery, hardware and drug stores throughout Villa Park, as well as at the Village Hall. Kraft bags and cans filled with landscape waste should weigh no more than 50 pounds. Due to the fact that all yardwaste is taken to a composting facility, plastic bags may not be used. Questions about waste disposal should be referred to Waste Management at (888) 656- 5350 Brush and Leaf Disposal: Brush and Leaf Pick Up Program Weekly brush and yard waste pickup begins April 1st and runs through mid December. Residents are allowed to dispose of an unlimited number of Kraft paper bags of leaves without affixing yard waste disposal stickers during a seven week period beginning in late October. Please note that it is unlawful to deposit leaf and debris on to Village streets. The Hazardous Waste

These items usually have warning labels with words like "caution", "flammable", "poisonous" or "danger." If such products are stored and used according to directions on the label, they typically do not pose a threat. When it is time to dispose of this class of goods, however, special care should be used to protect ourselves and the environment from possible harm. Consumer products that are flammable, toxic, corrosive, or reactive are considered to be household hazardous waste (HHW) when they are discarded. Recycling Program Expanded There are no limits to the amount of recyclable materials that Villa Park residents can set out for collection and now there are additional materials you can include. Prepare recyclable bottles and jars for collection by rinsing and discarding all lids. If a replacement or additional recycling bin in needed, please call Waste Management Services at (888) 656-5350. Waste Management Services will deliver the new bin to your home, a fee of $6.00 will be charged. Residents can also pick-up a replacement bin at the Public Works facility, a fee of $6.00 will be charged. Residents may also use a trashcan as a recycling bin.
