The Public Works Department is responsible for overseeing the majority of public construction projects which take place in the Village. Click on one of the links below to learn more about a particular project.
Current Construction Projects
Current construction projects include all projects for which construction work is in progress. This may include projects which are on hold due to the winter season, inclement weather or other delays. It may also include projects which are substantially complete, but for which some minor items have yet to be completed.
North Side Water Main Improvement Project
This project consists of the installation of approximately 6,478 lineal feet of six-inch (6"), eight-inch (8") and ten-inch (10") ductile iron water main on North Euclid Avenue from St. Charles Road to Division Street, North Westmore Avenue from North Avenue (Illinois State Route 64) to Terrace Street, and North Wisconsin Avenue from Vermont Street to Plymouth Street.
Plymouth and Vermont Concrete Patching Project
This project consists of the completion of concrete patching on West Plymouth Street from Westmore Avenue to Ardmore Avenue and on West Vermont Street from Westmore Avenue to Ardmore Avenue.
2009 Sewer Rehabilitation Program
This program consists of improvements to the Village's sanitary sewer system by means of various rehabilitation methods, including sewer replacement, sewer lining, point repairs, manholes repairs, and manhole replacement.
South Villa Avenue Improvement Project Phase II
This project consists of the reconstruction or resurfacing of South Villa Avenue from St. Charles Road to Madison Street. In addition to the roadway improvements which are planned, the project will also include the installation of new storm sewer throughout much of the project area, the completion of necessary repairs to the sanitary sewer system, the installation of a new street and pedestrian lighting system, replacement of some sidewalk and curb and gutter, and various other items.
Westmore Avenue Resurfacing Project
This project consists of the resurfacing of North Westmore Avenue from North Avenue (Illinois State Route 64) to Terrace Street.
Future Construction Projects
Future construction projects include projects for which construction work has not yet begun. Because the planning of the projects listed here is considered to be "in progress," any of the information listed is subject to change. Residents should bear in mind that if a project is not listed here, it does not necessarily mean that the project is not scheduled to take place; conversely, the presence of a project listing here does not mean that a project or any projected dates are guaranteed.
Ardmore Avenue Bridge Improvement Project
This project consists of improvements to the bridge on North Ardmore Avenue over the Illinois Central Railroad. The Village will receive approximately 80% Federal funding as a part of the Highway Bridge Program (HBP).

2011 Sidewalk Replacement Program
This program provides for the replacement of damaged and deteriorated sidewalks throughout the Village. The Village shares the cost of replacing the sidewalk with residents, with each party paying fifty percent.
St. Charles Road Bridge Improvement Project

North Yale Water Main Improvement Project
This project consists of the installation of new eight-inch (8") ductile iron water main on North Yale Avenue from Plymouth Street to Terrace Street.
Past Construction Projects
Past construction projects include only those projects which have been fully completed and have been closed out by the Village. No further action is planned to take place as a part of any of these projects.

2010 North Addison Road Resurfacing Project
This project consists of the resurfacing of approximately 0.95 miles of North Addison Road from North Avenue (Illinois State Route 64) to St. Charles Road.
2008 North Ardmore Resurfacing Project
This project consists of the resurfacing of North Ardmore Avenue between the Illinois Central Railroad bridge and the Union Pacific Railroad. This project is being funded under the Federal Surface Transportation Program (STP), with the Village receiving approximately 70% Federal funding for construction.
Great Western Trail Project

Harrison Water Main Project
This project consists of the replacement of the existing 6" water main on Harrison Street between Summit Avenue and Villa Avenue with 1,073 linear feet of new 8" ductile iron water main.
Madison Resurfacing Project

Madison Street Sidewalk Improvement Project
This project consists of the installation of new sidewalk on Madison Street from Ardmore Avenue to the East Madison cul-de-sac, near Illinois Route 83 West Frontage Road. The project also includes replacement of most of the curb ramps with new, ADA-compliant curb ramps and detectable warnings.

2008 South Myrtle Sanitary Relief Sewer Project
This project consists of the installation of a new sanitary relief sewer on South Myrtle which will run north from Harrison to Julia before heading east on Julia and connecting to the sanitary lift station on South Villa. The project also includes the installation of new water main on Myrtle, as well as road improvements throughout the project area. The project is being funded in part by a loan from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (Illinois EPA).
2006 Pleasant and Cornell Improvement Project

2009 St. Charles Road Resurfacing Project
This project consists of the resurfacing of approximately 1.60 miles of St. Charles Road from Westmore-Meyers Road in Lombard to Illinois State Route 83 in Elmhurst.
2009 Street Maintenance Program
This annual installment of the Village's Street Maintenance Program consists of the resurfacing of various Village streets by means of different pavement rehabilitation methods.
2009 Sunset Drive Improvement Project
This project consists of improvements to West Sunset Drive from Addison Road to the Village limits, near Westwood Avenue. The project includes complete reconstruction of the roadway from Westwood to Westmore, and concrete pavement patching from Westmore to Addison. The project also includes new storm sewer installation from Lincoln to Westmore and from Second to Addison, as well as additional catch basins to be installed between Westmore and Second. Repairs to both the existing water main and the existing sanitary sewer will be completed as well.
2009 Terrace / Douglas Stormwater Detention Pond Project

North Villa Lift Station Replacement Project
This project consists of the replacement of the existing sanitary sewer lift station located on the west side of Villa Avenue, north of the intersection of North Avenue and Villa Avenue.
South Villa Avenue Improvement Project Phase I

South Villa Water Main Improvement Project
This project consists of the installation of approximately 5,175 lineal feet of six-inch (6"), eight-inch (8") and ten-inch (10") ductile iron water main on South Villa Avenue from Wildwood Avenue to Madison Street.
