his Spirit award goes to an organization that is dedicated to help people get food. They are the Disciples Food Pantry here in Villa Park. They are part of the Christian Church of Villa Park on Villa Avenue.

They opened the pantry in 1986 and serve over 400 people a month. There are about 20 volunteers who serve every Wednesday and ever 3rd Saturday of the month. They provide canned foods, frozen meats, juices and other items.

This group represents service, kindness and helpfulness to others.

Here are just a few of the folks from the church to receive their award: Pastor Kerry Waller, Joan Fuller, Carol & Jim Robbins and Evelyn Sindstrom.

his Spirit Award goes to a husband and wife team. They are residents of Villa Park for the past 34 years.

They both work at a homeless soup kitchen, cooking and serving or whatever the need is for that day.

They also contribute to two local churches with their time and finances. Their most recent effort was to help a young couple with small children. The father was facing a major illness, and they opened their hearts and wallets to help them. They were there to do anything that was needed to help that young family get through their crisis and back on their feet again.

They volunteer their time to the community because they care, and that is whey we nominated Lorraine and Harold Goff to receive the Spirit Award.

his spirit award goes to a gentleman that is the best neighbor anyone can have. He is always there to help you with whatever needs to be done. He cuts his neighbors grass, trims bushes, and cleans gutters if you are unable to do it.

He is always willing to help even if it's in the middle of the night and there is an emergency in your home, he is there to help.

He himself is not in the best of health but this never stops him from being kind and helpful to others, and he never wants to get paid.
