Prairie Path Cleanup 2008
Over 100 volunteers representing the Community, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Churches and Willow brook High School Environmental and Key Clubs came out to help clean the trails on April 26th.
Despite the frigid weather, we had a great turnout. All volunteers were treated to water donated by Jewel Food Stores. Even the pet's got a treat! Tennis ball toys were donated by Pet Supplies Plus in Villa Park.
Many people came prepared with their own tools, and were generous to bring extra bags for all! Teenagers from Willow brook High School even stayed after to help the Pride Commission carry the supplies and tables to their cars!
Some of the more unusual finds included a coconut, furniture, aluminum siding and a Christmas tree!
All trash collected was placed beside the trail for pickup by the Villa Park, Parks and Recreation Department who worked throughout the day! Thank you to Marlon Hummel and his crew who supplied the bags, and took away the trash!
Special thanks to all of you who turned out to help keep our paths clean and continue to make Villa Park the most beautiful stretch of the 60 miles of trails that run throughout the county.
