Joyful Traditions

Joyful Traditions

Co-sponsored by the Villa Park Chamber of Commerce and the Village of Villa Park, this year's Joyful Traditions holiday festival takes place Saturday, December 2 from 6-8 p.m. at the Rugaard Gazebo.

From the tree lighting ceremony to a build-your-own-s'mores station to performances by Willowbrook High School's choir, Joyful Traditions is sure to be a festive time for the whole family, no matter how you celebrate.

While this event is free and open to the public, you can also adopt a tree for $45 by filling out this form and submitting it, along with payment, to the Villa Park Chamber of Commerce. The four-foot, pre-lighted tree will be placed on the Illinois Prairie Path and remain there the entire holiday season for you to decorate as you wish.

Halloween Lights

Holiday Lights Recycling

Whether you're taking down Halloween decorations or getting ready to deck the halls, consider recycling your unneeded holiday lights.

Ongoing collection is available from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the SCARCE office (School & Community Assistance for Recycling & Composting Education), located at 799 Roosevelt Rd, Building 2 in Glen Ellyn.

Decorative lights in both working and non-working condition are accepted, including Italian mini-lights, traditional lights, extension cords, rope lights, and LED lights.

Cooking Oil Recycling

Cooking Oil Recycling

Don't let used cooking oil from your Thanksgiving dinner or holiday potluck end up in landfills or clog the sewer system — recycle it instead!

Villa Park's Salt Creek Sanitary District (201 IL-83) collects used cooking oil from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. The entrance can be accessed from northbound IL-83. From there, the collected oil will be recycled into biodiesel, creating new resources instead of waste!

Please note that only liquid cooking oil — no bacon grease, solid fats, or motor oil — will be accepted. Also, be sure to bring the cooking oil in containers that you are willing to part with, such as gallon jugs.

http://www.saltcreeksd.com/ or call (630) 832-3411.
