4th of July Parade Recap

As is tradition, the Villa Park VFW Post 2801 planned, organized and hosted Villa Park’s annual 4th of July parade. On parade day, the streets were lined with numerous community members, families, children and even some pets.

The parade stepped off at noon, following the route of west on Central, south on Harvard, east on Madison, north on Summit and west on Park to the Trinity Lutheran parking lot. The lineup was led by retiring Officer Don Lay, who headed off the parade in a Police vehicle as his final tour of duty (pictured).

Other parade participants included the Parade Grand Marshall, Village Trustees and President Bulthuis, the Villa Park Fire Department, the Villa Park VFW, the Chamber of Commerce, various service clubs and numerous others who all contributed in making the event successful and fun for all ages.

We hope to see you next year!

Share Your Ideas for Walking and Biking in Villa Park

Bikers

The Village of Villa Park is partnering with Active Transportation Alliance to develop a Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan. The plan will focus on improving connections to the Illinois Prairie Path, Great Western Trail, Salt Creek Trail and other local destinations, fill in gaps in the sidewalk network and make intersections safer for people traveling on foot or by bike.

Now through October, we’re soliciting ideas from the community that will help inform plan recommendations and priorities. There are several ways to participate:

  • Online Survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/VPBikeWalkPlan
  • Online Interactive Map: https://www.communityremarks.com/villapark/
  • Paper Survey: Look for a copy in your water bill or find it at Village Hall, Park District buildings, National Night Out, Sunday Night Car Shows, Movies in the Park, Brewfest, local stores and the Metra Station.
  • Community Workshop: Save the date for Thursday, October 12th, 6:00 p.m. at Iowa Community Center (338 N Iowa Ave) to learn more about the plan and brainstorm ideas with your neighbors.
