Objective


To replace the lift station that services the North Avenue Townhomes.

Description


This project consists of the installation of a new lift station that services the North Avenue Townhomes. 

Justification


This lift station is subject to recent and frequent failures, most notably during the April 2013 flood event.

 March 4, 2016 Project is closed out.
 February 5, 2016 A final balancing change order was submitted by Staff for the Board to consider at the 02/08/2016 Board Meeting.
 January 15, 2016 The contractor has completed the installation of the generator. Staff attended a training session on the use of the lift station and stand-by generator. All construction is complete. Staff is working to process all necessary grant paperwork, a pay request, and to close out the job.
 January 1, 2016 Nicor has installed the gas meter and Neri has completed the connection of the generator to the gas service. All work is now complete and staff is working to close out the project.
 December 11, 2015 The light pole with attached camera was installed this week. All that remains is the installation of the gas service by Nicor Gas.
 November 27, 2015 The contractor is waiting for the camera pole to be fabricated and the gas service to be installed by Nicor Gas. The lift station is currently operational.
 November 20, 2015 The lift station has been put into service this week. Restoration of the pavement is also complete. 
 November 13, 2015 Startup and testing of the new lift station systems took place this week. The lift station is expected to be put into service next week. Staff is working with Nicor Gas to facilitate the installation of a new gas service for the backup generator.
 November 6, 2015 Startup and testing of the new lift station systems are expected to take place next week. Staff worked with Nicor Gas this week to facilitate the installation of a new gas service for the backup generator.
 October 30, 2015 No construction activity took place this week. The control cabinet is expected to be delivered and installed next week.
 October 9, 2015 The contractor poured a new concrete pad this week for the control cabinet and backup generator. The control cabinet is tentatively expected to be delivered and installed next week.
 October 2, 2015 Work continued this week on the pumping and electrical systems. The rear parking area at the townhomes is accessible to residents again.
 September 25, 2015 The new wet well and foundation were installed this week. The connection of the existing sewer to the new wet well was also completed, and the wet well has been backfilled and compacted. Trenching for the new electrical connection and other electrical work are expected to take place next week.
 September 18, 2015 Construction continued this week. The old lift station has been removed, and excavation for the new wet well is nearly complete. The new wet well and foundation are expected to be installed next week.
 September 11, 2015 Construction began this week. The bypass sewer line was installed. Excavation for the new wet well is expected to begin next week. Most contractor submittals has been approved. Fabrication of approved items has now begun. Staff continued to work with engineering consultant Robinson Engineering this week to review a few remaining contractor submittals. Staff has arranged for temporary parking at Safari Land during construction as the rear parking lot at the townhomes will be temporarily inaccessible.

Staff continued to work with engineering consultant Robinson Engineering this week to review a few remaining contractor submittals.  June 12, 2015 Staff held a pre-construction meeting for this project on 06/05/2015. Contracts for this project were executed this week. Staff received an executed agreement modification from DuPage County last week which grants additional CDBG funding for this project. Staff received a proposal for Phase III engineering services from engineering consultant Robinson Engineering this week and submitted that proposal for approval. 
 May 29, 2015 Staff received signed contracts and other project documents from prospective contractor John Neri Construction today, 05/29/2015. Staff will now submit the contracts for execution by Village officials. Staff is working to schedule a pre-construction meeting. 
 May 22, 2015 Staff is awaiting the return of signed contracts and other project documents from prospective contractor John Neri Construction.
 May 15, 2015 Staff prepared contracts this week and submitted them to prospective contractor John Neri Construction for execution.
May 1, 2015  A contract for this project was awarded to John Neri Construction at the 04/27/2015 Village Board meeting. Staff is now awaiting official approval of the Village's request for additional CDBG funding for this project.

April 10, 2015 The Village's request for additional CDBG funding for this project was approved by the DuPage County Community Development Commission (CDC) at a meeting on 04/07/2015. The request must still receive the approval of the DuPage County Development Committee and the DuPage County Board.
April 3, 2015  Staff was notified this week that DuPage Count CDC staff is recommending that the Village's request for additional CDBG funding for this project be approved by the DuPage County Community Development Commission. This issue will be voted upon at a CDC meeting next Tuesday, 04/07/2015.
 March 20, 2015 This project is currently open for bidding. A mandatory pre-bid meeting was held on 03/17/2015, and a bid opening is scheduled for 03/25/2015.

 March 6, 2015 The project was advertised for bidding this week. Plans for the lift station have been revised to accommodate the proposed work by ComEd. 
 February 27, 2015 Staff received comments from DuPage county this week following their review of the draft bid manual. Staff is now working to address those comments. 
 February 20, 2015 Phase II design engineering of this project is complete. Staff submitted a draft bid manual to DuPage County this week for review. The Village has approved a contract with ComEd for the underground facilities relocation and is working with ComEd to coordinate that work.
 January 16, 2015 The Village has approved a contract with ComEd for the underground facilities relocation.
 January 9, 2015 Staff has received a proposed contract from ComEd for the underground facilities relocation and has submitted it for consideration by the Village Board at the 01/12/2015 Village Board meeting. 
December 19, 2014  Staff met with ComEd this week to determine a location for their underground facilities relocation. Staff is still working with Comcast regarding potential conflicts with their facilities.
 December 5, 2014 Staff received a preliminary design from ComEd this week for an underground relocation of ComEd overhead wires.
 November 7, 2014 Staff submitted a deposit and signed contract to ComEd this week for design of the underground relocation of ComEd overhead wires. Staff met with AT&T this week and determined that there are no conflicts with AT&T facilities. Staff is still working with Comcast regarding potential conflicts with their facilities. Staff is also working with engineering consultant RJN Group to complete Phase II design engineering of this project. The engineering consultant is currently finalizing plans and specifications in anticipation of advertising the project for bidding.
