Message from the Fire Chief

From the Chief's Desk

Thank you for taking the time to visit the Villa Park Fire Department web site. I hope you find this site informative and helpful. The Villa Park Fire Department is a proud organization providing dedicated service to the residents and visitors of Villa Park.

The Villa Park Fire Department currently employs 24 full time shift personnel divided into three shifts who work a 24 hour shift and are off for 48 hours. All shift personnel are Certified Firefighters and Licensed Paramedics working out of two Fire Stations - Station 82 at 102 West Plymouth and Station 81 at 1440 South Ardmore.

The Fire Service has been challenged with an increase in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and non emergent incidents. Along with providing Fire and EMS services, the department has members trained

in Hazardous Materials, Technical Rescue, and Swift Water Rescue. The Villa Park Fire Department is a member of MABAS Division 12 which allows for the sharing of resources with specialty teams. In 2015, the Villa Park Fire Department responded to 2803 calls for service of which 1806 were EMS related.

Public Education will always be a priority and I will continue to look for ways to educate our residents. Currently we have scheduled classroom time in our elementary schools to teach fire safety to 1st graders and look to expand the program to 6th graders. Our Public Education Instructors teach CPR / AED and First Aid numerous times throughout the year to individuals, schools, charitable organizations and area businesses.

Departmental training of personnel is also a priority of mine. I want our firefighter / paramedics to be well trained in current practices. I believe the importance of training with our neighboring departments is beneficial to all of us when responding to a large incident. Knowing our neighbors allows us to mitigate an emergency incident more effectively and safely.

We will continue to improve the Villa Park Fire Department to meet the many challenges we may face, as we remain focused on protecting the life and property of the residents of this fine community.

I am proud to be the Fire Chief for the Village of Villa Park and welcome any questions and concerns you may have. Please feel free to contact me at 630-833-5350 or by email.
